Colds spread easily in classrooms, especially in the fall and winter. It’s normal for kids to get several colds a year, but you can help reduce how often and how severe they are:
✅ Hand hygiene – Teach regular handwashing with soap, especially before eating and after coughing/sneezing.
✅ Healthy habits – Balanced diet, enough sleep, and physical activity all support immunity.
✅ Teach cough etiquette – Encourage coughing/sneezing into elbows and using tissues.
✅ Limit sharing – Remind kids not to share water bottles, utensils, or food.
✅ Stay home when sick – Rest helps recovery and prevents spreading germs.
✅ Check vaccines – Flu shots and other recommended vaccines help reduce illness.
👉 If your child’s colds are unusually frequent, last longer than 10–14 days, or come with high fever or breathing difficulties, it’s best to check in with your family physician.
